How to get the audio from an X (Twitter) video — free MP3 or WAV, in your browser

Save the sound from a video on X (Twitter) as an MP3 or WAV: paste the post’s link, trim the part you want on the waveform, download it. Free, no app, no signup.

  • WAV or MP3
  • Sample-accurate trim
  • No sign-up
  • Videos up to 60 min

X (formerly Twitter) has no download button, and saving a post only bookmarks it. Samplecut takes the link instead: paste the address of a post with a video, see its audio as a waveform, drag a selection over the part you want, and download it as a WAV or an MP3.

It runs in the browser. Nothing to install, no account, and no X login needed.

Step 1 — Copy the post link and paste it in

In the X app, tap Share and then Copy link. On the web, copy the address bar while the post is open. Paste it into the editor and press Extract Audio.

Both x.com and old twitter.com links work, with or without the ?s= share parameters on the end. A few seconds later the audio appears as an interactive waveform.

Step 2 — Drag a selection over the part you want

The highlighted region on the waveform is your cut:

  • Drag the region's edges to set where the audio starts and ends.
  • Click the waveform to seek, then play or loop the selection and check it by ear.
  • Zoom in when a boundary matters — the peaks show where a word or a beat lands.

Want the whole clip? The download menu offers the full track as well as the selection.

Step 3 — Download it as WAV or MP3

MP3 at 320 kbps is small and plays anywhere. WAV is uncompressed, the right pick if the clip is going into a video edit or a project.

X serves compressed audio, so a WAV is an exact copy of the best stream X offers, not a recovery of the original recording.

Keeping the cut, and who owns the sound

Add cut banks the current selection so you can take several pieces from one video without extracting it again. Publishing a cut, the one action that asks you to sign in, gives it a permanent page with its own link.

The sound belongs to whoever made it. Personal use is one thing; reposting, releasing or monetising what you cut needs the rights or a licence.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an X account to get the audio?

No. Samplecut fetches public posts without logging in to X, and needs no Samplecut account either. Signing in is only for publishing a cut.

Do twitter.com links still work?

Yes. twitter.com, x.com and their mobile. versions all work, with or without share parameters.

What about a post with more than one video?

Samplecut takes the first video in the post. To get a different one, find a post where that video is shared on its own.

Can I get the audio from a GIF?

No. X stores GIFs as short videos with no sound, so there is no audio to extract.
